No. Signed-in users can read platform-provided captions or transcripts in full without using the 15-item allowance. Visitors see a preview. Captions are shown in the reading interface and are not republished as standalone public pages.

Some popular interviews, podcasts, and videos are prepared in advance as Pro Picks so Pro users can unlock them quickly. Unlocking one for the first time uses half its source duration from your monthly processing hours (for example, 3 hours uses 1.5 hours); after that, you can read it unlimited permanently. This is a long-term Pro benefit: your 20 processing hours can unlock up to 40 hours of Pro Picks. Each Pro user unlocks independently; if one user keeps their copy private, other Pro users can still unlock the same Pro Pick. If your language is missing, it uses one of your 20 translation passes instead of charging the source duration again. Pro Picks are not available on Free.

Free includes 15 new community or shared processed items per UTC calendar month. Pro includes 20 hours of source video or audio processing per subscription month. There is no separate transcription bucket: a 1-hour video with captions uses 1 hour, and a 1-hour video without captions also uses 1 hour. Unlocking a Pro Pick uses half its source duration (for example, 3 hours uses 1.5 hours). Re-reading a result you have unlocked uses no hours. Each new processing source can be up to 6 hours; Pro Picks can be longer.

New processing stops when the required allowance is used up. Free reading and Pro processing reset separately: Free on the first of each month at 00:00 UTC, Pro on your billing date. When your subscription ends, your own generated or unlocked results remain unlimited to read permanently; community or shared content follows the Free 15-item allowance, and Pro Picks are not available on Free. If you upgrade, Pro starts immediately; if Pro ends, a fresh Free 15-item allowance starts and resets on the next first of the month.

Pro includes up to 20 new translations per UTC day, including the first translation after processing. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC. One document version in one target language counts once when translation succeeds; reading an existing translation and retrying a failed translation do not use an extra pass. Translation does not use processing hours. Pro Picks are not split by the 6-hour processing cap.

Processing reserves the source minutes first. If the source stage fails, no minutes are charged and the reservation is kept until retry, cancellation, or the end of its subscription period. If the source stage succeeds but the overview or article fails, half is charged, rounded up to a whole minute; the remainder stays reserved for retry. A retry uses that reservation and charges only the missing part, without charging completed work again. If a result is still missing or incomplete, contact support@readthetalk.com. You can request a full refund of your first Pro payment before 168 hours have elapsed since the charge if counted usage is less than 60 source minutes when we execute the refund. Partially completed processing counts the source minutes already charged; failed processing with no completed source stage does not count. Unlocking a Pro Pick counts at its full source duration, not the discounted hours; using a translation pass does not count. Renewal payments (the second and later charges), requests at or after 168 hours, and usage of 60 minutes or more are not refundable, except for duplicate charges, billing errors, or refunds required by law.
